Tianyi Pavilion is the oldest existing private library in China and one of the three oldest family libraries in the world. It currently holds nearly 300000 volumes of various ancient books, including over 80000 volumes of rare editions. Nantang Old Street is located outside the south gate of the ancient city of Ningbo. It was once the "South Gate Three Cities" of the old Ningbo commercial and cultural gathering place, and is listed as one of the eight major historical districts in Ningbo.
